Artist biography
Jenny O’Brien trained in Fine Art, Paint and Print at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology where she graduated in 1998, specialising in portraiture. With a decade of experience as a professional artist, her work ranges between commercial and private portrait commissions, murals, web and graphic design, caricatures, cartoons and other published work - twelve of her oil-painted portraits were specially commissioned for the 2007 GRCC “Inspirational Women of Galway” calendar.
Her paintings have been included in various group exhibitions nationwide, notably the specially selected "Iontas Small Works" competition in the RHA Gallery, Dublin. Her first solo portraiture exhibition opened in the Kenny Gallery, Galway, in 2006.
She now works from her home studio in the West of Ireland.
